I recently added a comment to the times on line article which sally
had previously mentioned, because our feasibility study is at a
public meeting stage next week? but what is shocking is that
carmarthen county council keep putting out positive statements in the
local press and on their own web site, like we are working with the
committee to help save the pool, yet the truth of the matter is far
from this, they set a grant of £7,000 in 1998/1999 and here we are 10
years later with the offer of lease the whole pool and park for a
pound and take on the associated responsibilities and we will give
you £7,000 a year...... there's no extra assistance to cover the
grass cutting of the park around the pool etc, they want the
committee to take on extra responsibilities at prices set 10 years
ago, if the county council were sincere about trying to save the pool
they would have at least raised the outdated budget? the sooner the
uk government or the welsh assembly puts in legislation or finacial
support to stop county councils from closing swimming pools the
better?
the public exhibition is being held in the urdd hall hendy which is
off iscoed road (the main through road off the m4 j48)/ and on the
corner of clayton road, it is a two say exhibition thursday 13th
march 12pm till 9pm and then friday 14th march 12pm till 7pm

Hendy lido in Wales, has fallen into disrepair because there's no
legal obligations for councils to provide funds for swimmming or
lesuire in the community, a public meeting in 2005 saw locals meet
the county council to find ways of saving the pool, this partnership
with the county council seems to have been made with tounge in cheek
and Carmarthen County Council, have not listened to the general
public and community, 3000 locals signed a petition in 2006 to save
the pool which was presented the council, A feasability study has
been commissioned and there is a public meeting on Thursday 13th
Friday the 14th of march for public view, to help decide a prefered
option, however the consultants have met with the council and their
offer of £7,000 which was set in the 1998/1999 season, has not been
increased in ten years, yet they want the committee to lease the
whole park, giving an extra burden such as grass cutting of the park,
if the county really wanted to help they would have increased the
grant of 7k a year
