“ Mr Lyon, who has fond childhood memories of the pool in the 1950s.
"It was quite an incredible pool and they used to come from miles around. I am going back to the 1950s when I was young. To be honest it was fantastic. Absolutely jam-packed.
"There was no health and safety in those days - the highest diving board was a plank 15 ft in the air into six feet of water! It was probably unbelievably dangerous but there were never any accidents or ill health. The pool was thoroughly enjoyed.
"The filtration unit was a bale of straw to stop trout and muck coming in from the river. When it split we had fish and eels and goodness knows what in there." ”
