“Hi all,
During my time working as a lifeguard at Hendy pool I would see many people coming through the gates. Even when it was raining you would have at least 20 people in the pool. When the weather was nice it would be really really busy in the pool. So busy in fact that we would have to turn people away, because due to health and safety you can only allow 50 people per lifeguard in the pool. There was 3 of us working on busy periods, so there would be 150 people in the pool at any 1 time.
Normally you would pay to come into the pool and you could spend the whole day there, but I remember one particular year they had to introduce bands like they have in leisure centers, so people would be limited to an hour in the pool, that’s how busy it was!! I am confident that if and when the pool re-opens we may need to do this again, because I feel that everyone in Hendy, Fforest, Pontarddulais and the surrounding areas will be very very keen to use this amazing pool again and again!!
Lets do all we can to ensure that this amazing pool is filled again with children playing and really enjoying themselves.
Thank you
Richard Toth”
